Good book if you've just become a manager
Customer Rating:  Score = 3 Score = 3 Score = 3 Score = 3 Score = 3
This is okay - but if you've been a manager for some time, you will probably find this book a little bit boring and not really gain much from this read. Great for new manager's - would pass on junior managers.

The most effective coaching process around
Customer Rating:  Score = 5 Score = 5 Score = 5 Score = 5 Score = 5
This book reveals a process that beats all other coaching processes in it's simplicity and effectiveness. It shows how anyone can successfully coach and develop a range of experienced and inexperienced people at their pace and comfort effectively, with little or no conflict - if done properly. Forget your GROW model. This is simple, practical and effective

More Child psychology applied to incompetent grown ups....
Customer Rating:  Score = 2 Score = 2 Score = 2 Score = 2 Score = 2
Parody is an interesting format for a book on situational leadership but all the one minute books are remarkably similar. It's child psychology applied to grown ups. The first One Minute manager book was great and gave powerful lessons, in an easy to follow style, but these subsequent publications, are 'more of the same'. Managers who get a moment of Eureka reading this should seriously consider becoming accountants.

Most read for new supervisors
Customer Rating:  Score = 5 Score = 5 Score = 5 Score = 5 Score = 5
This is the book that I wish I had been handed when I was appointed as a Team Manager 2 years ago. Shows that leading others is not about delegating work and giving the occasional rollocking. Highly Reccomended.

Helpful, but not my style of teaching
Customer Rating:  Score = 4 Score = 4 Score = 4 Score = 4 Score = 4
The teaching is very helpful. I certainly have learned much, especially in areas where a suspicion is confirmed by someone so obviously knowledgable.

I really like the "upside down" approach. He breaks molds and they make sense.

The only thing I didn't like is the style of teaching. The book is told as a story; you follow a character around while she learns from the "One Minute Manager".

It may just be me... I imagine that many out there would find this book very helpful due to this method of teaching alone, so I don't want to put anyone off it unnecessarily.

I guess I wanted something a bit more academic...

Directive?

Your fellow seeker,

Jason
