Summaries and Customer Reviews are supplied by Amazon.com How is this man not more famous | Customer Rating: | I actually got funny looks on the train to work reading this as I was genuinely crying with laughter!
Absolute genius - more please. And do some stand up in the UK!! | Not as consistently funny as expected. | Customer Rating: | I'm a fan of Hall's humour and I could hear his voice as I read the stories. The chapters can be hit or miss, but overall the book is funny with some perceptive comments about Brits and Americans. I particularly enjoyed the chapters on Aberdeen, New Zealand and ladders. An easy read, one for dipping in and out of.
| Sheer Genius | Customer Rating: | | Can't believe this book doesn't have an overall five star rating yet. There is no book I have ever encountered that I know I can return to with confidence knowing I'll laugh every single time. The book is pokes fun at all and sundry - British, American, New Zealander, estate agent, Aberdonian, Rich's "family", Neil Diamond, Bill Gates, crypic crossword fanatics... no one is safe. Perhaps the only drawback is you can't escape the feeling that even you the reader are being made fun of while reading it. I guess life is funny, it just takes someone like Rich Hall to point it out sometimes. I think David Letterman's quote on the back sums it up: "We say a lot of people are funny. He's the real thing." Genius. Buy this book and never use a stepladder again! |
